Bushid? (Bushid?), meaning “Way of the Warrior”, is a Japanese code of conduct and a way of life, loosely analogous to the European concept of chivalry. It originates from the samurai moral code and stresses frugality, loyalty, martial arts mastery and honour unto death. Bushid? developed between the 11th to 14th centuries as set forth by numerous translated documents dating from the 12th to 16th centuries (as mentioned below). However, some dependable sources also state the document might have been formulated in the 17th century.

The seven virtues of bushido are:
Rectitude (gi)
Courage (y?)
Benevolence (jin)
Respect (rei)
Honesty (makoto or shin)
Honour, Glory (meiyo)
Loyalty (ch?gi)

IAIDO – IAIDO – CURIOSITIES

In this video Luis Miguel Piqueras Sensei talks about a couple of curiosities about iaido: how to carry the katana on the belt (traditional way and Musubi rectification), and why samurai sometimes wear a cloth tied around the shoulders.

Fighter-Arts would like to thank Luis Miguel Piqueras and Abraham Yepes
